Project name:
Werrina Duplex
Overlooking the stunning beachfront of Werrina NSW, this newly reimagined coastal residence is a testament to refined elegance and architectural ingenuity. From the moment one steps through the entryway, soaring ceilings and expansive glazing create an immediate sense of openness, inviting natural light to cascade through the interiors and frame the picturesque surroundings.
The design narrative of this home is rooted in a contemporary Australian aesthetic, thoughtfully curated to enhance both functionality and aesthetic cohesion. The interplay of natural materials, particularly stone, and a soothing, nature-inspired palette anchors the home within its coastal setting. The use of stone throughout the home further establishes a connection to the natural environment, reinforcing a sense of place and tranquillity.
“The design narrative of this home is rooted in a contemporary Australian aesthetic, thoughtfully curated to enhance both functionality and aesthetic cohesion.”
Beyond its striking visual composition, this home was meticulously planned to navigate the constraints of a compact building envelope while maximising the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces. Central to this vision is the seamless integration of the outdoor entertaining area, where the surrounding landscape forms an extension of the living spaces. Expansive openings dissolve the boundary between the interior and exterior, allowing an effortless transition that enhances the home’s liveability and celebrates its coastal setting.
A key sustainability feature of this project is its duplex design, which inherently promotes responsible land use and energy efficiency. By accommodating two residences within a shared footprint, the development reduces urban sprawl while optimising available space. Shared structural elements contribute to material efficiency, while the thoughtful orientation of both homes allows for natural cross-ventilation and passive temperature regulation. This considered approach minimises reliance on artificial cooling and heating, supporting a more sustainable way of living.

The inclusion of Fanco’s Sanctuary ceiling fans further enhances this commitment to sustainability and comfort. Positioned within the main living areas and outdoor spaces, these fans provide an elegant and practical solution for maintaining optimal airflow throughout the seasons. Their refined white finish complements the home’s material palette, reinforcing a sense of cohesion while offering superior ventilation in an energy-efficient manner.
Beyond its aesthetic and functional achievements, the residence stands as a deeply personal retreat, designed for a mother and her daughters to enjoy for years to come. Every element, from the considered spatial planning to the material selections, has been crafted to enhance daily living while embodying a refined yet relaxed sensibility. The result is a home that seamlessly blends modern sophistication with a connection to place—one that elevates the experience of coastal living through intelligent design and thoughtful detailing.
