After thorough consideration and extensive research, we are excited to introduce the Gaia, a new addition to our EarthFirst range. This fan is crafted to minimise environmental impact during manufacturing while maintaining high standards of quality, aesthetics, and functionality.

Featuring a natural finish and earthy tones, the Gaia ceiling fan captures the essence of Mother Nature. Its design emphasises environmental responsibility, and the name “Gaia” symbolises its thoughtful creation and commitment to eco-friendly products.

This emphasis on sustainability has not gone unnoticed, with the Gaia receiving a prestigious Australian Good Design Award Winner accolade. The Gaia has been recognised for its innovations in reducing the environmental impact of the manufacturing process, and the overall quality of the product and its materials.

“Fanco’s Gaia ceiling fan is part of the new EarthFirst range, featuring eco-friendly plastics and FSC-certified wood blades. It offers a stylish, high-performance cooling solution for environmentally conscious homeowners. The Jury was impressed with the commitment to circularity through material selection and component choice, which were well-considered without compromising on aesthetics.”

Traditional fans often use ABS, steel, and undergo carbon-intensive processes like electroplating and powder coating. Our challenge was to find sustainable materials that still ensure durability, reliability, and affordability for mass production.

The Gaia fan sets itself apart with components such as a motor housing made from bio-based plastic and FSC® Certified solid timber blades, carefully considering their environmental impact. The Gaia is the first of its kind, a DC ceiling fan designed to transform your environment sustainably.

Made from solid timber that is 100% FSC® Certified, the Gaia blades are sustainably sourced and produced.

The FSC® Certified blades use a transparent, water-based, non-toxic paint, protecting them from humidity, ensuring longevity, and promoting sustainability without compromising quality or aesthetic appeal.

The water-based paint allows the blades to be easily recycled at the end of their life. By only applying water-based coating, processes like electroplating and powder coating are eliminated, reducing the overall carbon footprint of the fan.

The motor housing utilises bio-based plastic, where 25% of its content is organically sourced, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

This advancement, certified by TUV tests (ASTM D6866-22 Method B), showcases a commitment to minimising environmental impact.

The biobased plastic does not have any coating or painting, and its colour refers to its organic components, eliminating unnecessary processes.
