Renovate or Rebuild – Season 2 House 1
Stafford Heights
Before
After
In Stafford Heights, Brisbane, sits a home that embodies the vibrant history of its mid-century modern architecture. Lisa, its proud owner, grapples with the age-old homeowner’s dilemma: whether to renovate or rebuild. Supported by a skilled team including interior designer James Treble, the dynamic duo Jimmy and Tam, and renowned architect Paul Butterworth, Lisa embarks on a mission to rejuvenate her cherished residence. Lisa’s home transcends mere structure; it’s a sanctuary overflowing with character and nostalgia. Enamored by its mid-century modern design reminiscent of Palm Springs chic, Lisa’s attachment to the house is palpable. From the iconic pink bathroom to the shagpile carpet, every original feature evokes fond memories, all bathed in an ambiance of natural light and breezy openness that Lisa holds dear.
After much deliberation, Lisa made her choice: to renovate. With a nod to practicality and a desire to preserve cherished memories, she opted for a design that honoured the home’s history while addressing its needs for modern living.
The renovate design enhances the original features Lisa loves, and the Eco Style ceiling fans provide much needed function, whilst working in unison with her Mid Century modern style. Lisa only has one air conditioner, situated in the master bedroom, so the fans play a pivotal role in keeping her cool during the warm Queensland weather.
All bedrooms have been equipped with the Eco Style with integrated CCT LED light, whereas the open plan living area, as well as the new outdoor entertaining area feature the fan without light.
