LEADING THE GLOBAL FAN INDUSTRY
Our EarthFirst Range
The most sustainable ventilation product family in the World.
The culmination of over a decade of designing for good.
After years of extensive research and careful planning, we are excited to introduce our world leading range of sustainable ceiling fans. The Fanco Earth First range. These fans have been crafted to minimise environmental impact during the manufacturing process whilst adhering to our high standards of build quality, beautiful aesthetics, and effective performance.
The fans within the Earth First range challenge the preconceptions about how ceiling fans are manufactured and how sustainable ceiling fans can truly be.
The Flagship of the Earth First Range.
The Fanco Gaia DC.
The Gaia DC is our flagship fan within the Earth First range. It embodies our commitment to reducing environmental impact without compromising on quality, design, or functionality.
With its natural finish and earthy tones, the Gaia DC is more than just a fan; it’s a symbol of environmental responsibility. It pushes boundaries with its use of innovative sustainable materials, including a motor housing made from bio-based plastic or its use of FSC® Certified solid timber blades. These components are chosen not only for their durability and reliability but also for their reduced environmental footprint, representing a paradigm shift in how sustainable a ceiling fan’s materials can be.
The Gaia DC also features Fanco’s staple energy-efficiency with a powerful DC motor that provides the full range of soothing airflows at minimal power usage. Running the Gaia DC on a low speed 24 hours a day would cost less than 25 cents per month thanks to these technologies.*
The Gaia DC is more than just a sustainable fan. it represents the next step in ceiling fan design, manufacturing and functionality.

Sustainably sourced and produced timber.
FSC® Certified Solid Timber Blades.
The Earth First rangs is made from solid timber that is 100% FSC® Certified, meaning it is sustainably sourced and produced.
The FSC® Certified blades use a transparent, water-based, non-toxic paint, protecting them from humidity, ensuring longevity, and promoting sustainability without compromising quality or aesthetic appeal.
The water-based paint allows the blades to be easily recycled at the end of their life. By only applying water-based coating, processes like electroplating and powder coating are eliminated, reducing the overall carbon footprint of the fan.
Changing the game with material choices.
Bio-based Plastic for motor housings.
The Earth First rangs also uses a special bio-based plastic polymer for its motor housings. This special plastic is comprised of 25% organically sourced materials in its construction, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels during the manufacturing process.
The biobased plastic does not have any coating or painting, leaving it with a mature and sophisticated ‘ecru’ colouring that reflects its humble and sustainable background. This plastic is a significant advancement for ceiling fan manufacturing, and one of the most significant sustainability endeavours we have engaged in so far.
The plastic itself is also certified by TUV tests (ASTM D6866-22 Method B), showcasing our commitment to quality and our commitment to minimising environmental impact.
Our commitment to reducing waste
Sustainable packaging
Recyclable packaging.
Our commitment to sustainability begins long before you open the box.
We meticulously evaluate every stage of our product’s journey looking for ways to further reduce our environmental impact. In Australia, most packaging still relies on virgin materials and finite resources. The prevalence of single-use plastics, coated cardboard, and excessive polystyrene reduces recyclability and generates unnecessary waste.
We sought to be part of the solution and move away from these materials.
Starting in 2022 at Fanco we began transitioning our range to 100% sustainable packaging, with all our packaging being recyclable, biodegradable, or compostable.
Humble cardboard.
It all starts with the Box.
Coated cardboard is often treated with wax or plastic sealants making them difficult to recycle. This contributes to contamination issues within recyclable waste streams, frequently leading to disposal in landfills. In response to these environmental concerns, we’ve taken proactive steps to mitigate our impact. Specifically, we’ve minimised the use of ink on our packaging and eliminated the practice of coating our cardboard boxes.
By opting for uncoated cardboard, we ensure that our boxes can be easily recycled through appropriate channels or repurposed as valuable brown compost material.
Safely disposable.
Biodegradable Plastic.
Conventional plastics have extremely long decomposition periods and when disposed of incorrectly can damage ecosystems and harm local fauna. In response, we started using biodegradable plastics, which break down much quicker and safer when exposed to natural elements.
This commitment to using biodegradable materials ensures that our products are safely transported, whilst still being safely disposable without harming the local environment.
Solid, structured, and sustainable.
Egg Crate Packaging.
Polystyrene inserts are bulky and non-biodegradable. In response, we are transitioning to biodegradable egg crate-style inserts instead.
Importantly, our egg crate inserts are engineered for rigidity and strength, creating protection and safeguards for the product during transit.
These inserts, crafted from recycled materials, significantly reduce waste and conserve natural resources. Being biodegradable egg crate packaging breaks down naturally and is an ideal brown material for compost.
Manuals made accessible wherever.
Digital media instead of printed.
According to the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, in Australia 2.18 million tons of un-recycled paper waste are still deposited into landfills every year. As such, we’ve reduced the size of our printed manuals and installation guides thus reducing our quantity of paper waste. We have also moved all of our manuals and installation guides over to easy-to-access digital formats making it easier for customers to access our current resources online.
With our new approach of embedding QR codes into our packaging, we enhance user convenience and ensure that information is accessible whilst minimising our paper use.
Our commitment to product efficiency
High Energy Efficiency
Energy Efficiency is Environmental Efficiency
On average most Australian houses devote around 40% of their energy use to heating and cooling. This is a significant volume of energy, and is extremely costly to both the occupants and the planet. Our range of products are designed to help reduce this ratio, and do so in the most energy efficient way possible.
When used optimally, our products target different specialised ventilation objectives, significantly reducing the energy required to regulate internal temperatures. The energy efficiency of our ceiling fans is further enhanced through our extremely efficient LED lights, allowing our fans to provide bright, customisable lighting options with minimal impact on the energy use.
Our range of Heat Recovery Ventilation systems are a form of mechanical ventilation that are significantly energy efficient. HRV systems bring in fresh, filtered air, while maintaining a comfortable temperature and saving on energy costs, making it a wise addition to improve thermal performance of any space.
With cutting-edge design and innovative products, at Fanco we choose to pioneer efficient products that reduce environmental impact and energy usage.
Extremely Efficient DC Motors.
DC motors are known to be extremely energy efficient. At Fanco we have an extensive range of DC Fans, with many consuming as little as 2 Watts when operating on their lowest speeds. This low power usage translates to extremely low running costs.
With a DC fan in typical lowest speed operation this can lead to costs being as low as under $0.05 running a full 24 hours a day.
Under $1 for 24/7 operations for a month
And under $12 when running for 24/7 for a full 365-day year.

Energy Efficient LED Lights.
Our LED lights typically use 18-20 Watts at full brightness and even less at lower levels.
LED lights are already an extremely energy efficient lighting option, both creating bright light without the significant heat generation associated with older incandescent or halogen bulbs.
At Fanco these LED’s are not only an ideal light from a sustainability perspective, but they also allow us to engineer our fans to include a variety of useful quality of life features as well.
Our LEDs are fully dimmable allowing users to select the exact brightness needed for their spaces, allowing our fans to be installed in lighting focused applications ranging from moody soft extras to focused bright downlights.
This utility is combined with our Colour Changing Technology (CCT) as standard, allowing our lights to be adjusted to have warm, cool or daylight-coloured hues. This further boosts the utility applications of our fans with lights, at no increased power-cost.
Our LED lights also feature a memory function, meaning your settings will be retained next time you turn the light on.
With an emphasis on designing for our user, we are able to make our LED’s as useful as possible without increasing the amount of energy they use, making them equally sustainable and functional.
